The International Monetary Fund will be fully briefed on the country’s economic performance in the first week of October, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to sources, Pakistan and the IMF officials held virtual talks. The international lending agency was briefed on the FBR tax collections report.
The IMF expressed its satisfaction over the performance of the Federal Board of Revenue.
The global lender was informed that the FBR would achieve tax target without levying any new tax as the revenue board collected Rs2,100 billion in taxes in the first three months of this financial year while the tax target in 1QFY2023 was Rs 1.98 trillion, sources added.
Sources said that the IMF would be briefed on the country’s economic performance in the first week of October. The revenue data from July to September of this financial year will be presented to the IMF next week, they explained.
The Fund was also informed about the plan of action against tax evaders.
