Pakistan is expected to receive $410 million in climate financing from International Monetary Fund (IMF) in fiscal year 2025-26, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the sources, the climate financing funds are part of the Ministry of Finance’s annual debt plan for fiscal year 2025-26 and these funds will be in addition to the amount received under the $7 billion loan program.
The sources said the amount of climate financing from the IMF is included in the annual plan of the Ministry of Finance, as IMF delegation is in Pakistan for negotiations on the loan program and climate financing. According to the sources, the negotiations are being held with the IMF on the first review of climate financing along with the loan and IMF will also provide funds to Pakistan under the climate financing program. Pakistan has already agreed on a $1.3 billion climate financing program with the IMF.
