Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) predicted rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tomorrow to October 7 and issued an alert, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to PDMA, intermittent rains, wind, thunderstorms and heavy rains at some places are expected in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tomorrow to October 7, as PDMA has issued a letter to all district administrations of the province to remain alert regarding precautionary measures in view of the rains.
According to the report, intermittent thunderstorms with strong winds and heavy rain are expected in the districts of Upper and Lower Dir, Upper and Lower Chitral, Swat, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai Palace, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur and Mohmand from October 2 to 7.
Meanwhile, there is a strong possibility of heavy rain with wind and thunderstorm in the districts of Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North and South Waziristan, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan.
According to PDMA, due to heavy rain, there is a possibility of increase in water flow in local rivers and springs in the districts of Upper and Lower Dir, Upper and Lower Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan.
Moreover, due to the rain, there is a risk of road closures due to landslides in the mountainous areas of Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Khyber, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kullai Palace, Kurram, Malakand, Mansehra, Mohmand, Orakzai, Shangla, Swat, Torghar and North Waziristan.
According to PDMA, strong winds and thunderstorms are likely to damage vulnerable houses, electricity poles, billboards and solar panels. PDMA has directed all district administrations to take necessary precautionary measures, clean the drainage system, and provide timely awareness to the local population, tourists and travelers.
PDMA also appeal to relevant agencies to ensure availability of emergency services, medical aid, food and other essential items and to the public to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather.
