Hard-hitting batter Asif Ali bids farewell to international cricket

Pakistan’s middle-order batter Asif Ali on Monday announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a career marked by explosive batting performances, 24NewsHD TV reported. 

In a heartfelt statement, Asif expressed deep gratitude to his fans, teammates, and coaches, acknowledging their constant encouragement through both triumphs and trials.

“I thank my fans, fellow players, and coaches who supported me in every situation, whether good or bad,” he said.

The 33-year-old cricketer also paid tribute to his family and friends, recalling the strength they provided during the most difficult period of his life, particularly the loss of his young daughter during the World Cup campaign.

“I am grateful to my family and friends who stood by me in moments of joy and during the toughest trials of my life. Your strength gave me the courage to move forward,” he remarked.

 Asif confirmed that he will continue playing domestic cricket and global franchise leagues, ensuring fans will still witness his trademark hard-hitting style. “InshaAllah, I will keep pursuing my passion by continuing to play league and domestic cricket,” he added.

Asif Ali represented Pakistan in 21 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 58 T20 Internationals (T20Is).

He represented the national side lastly in 2023.
