The Sindh Home Department has notified fresh restrictions under the epidemic act to stem coronavirus.
According to a new notification, hotels and markets will remain closed till April 14. Al kinds of public activities will be prohibited from 12pm to 3pm on Friday.
From three to five people can offer prayers in mosques while others will offer prayers at homes, the government ordered.
Gatherings except burials are banned completely. Local station house officer will be informed about the funeral and just family members will be allowed to perform the last rites.
Intercity and intra-city transport service will be shut while the inter-province movement will be barred.
Last Friday, hundreds gathered for the weekly prayers despite strong warnings to avoid congregations amid fears of coronavirus, cases.
In some cases, local police officers had rushed to the mosques to try and discourage people from entering but backed down in the face of possible conflict.
Many of the clerics had consequently been booked for violating the government's predetermined orders but the cases were withdrawn on Monday after scholars met Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The Ulema then went on to guarantee their full support in the war against coronavirus.
The Sindh government had earlier decided that only the mosque's imam, muazzin, khadim, and two others would congregate for Friday prayers owing to the threat of coronavirus.
