Taking to Instagram, Nadia shared a story reading, “Dearest Meesha Shafi I stand with your truth,” accompanied by a white heart, signaling her solidarity with Shafi’s allegations of sexual harassment despite the Rs5 million legal penalty.
The post featured a minimalist illustration depicting a mother hanging Shafi’s portrait in a gallery while a young daughter looks on, suggesting Shafi’s courage serves as an inspiring legacy for future generations.
By including the hashtag #MeToo, Nadia aligned her support with the global movement against harassment, framing the struggle as a moral triumph beyond the courtroom outcome.
Following Nadia’s message, Huma Hamid also voiced support for Meesha Shafi, posting, “I stand with Meesha Shafi. I stand in solidarity with her whose truth was challenged in courts and who did not receive the outcome she hoped for. A legal loss does not erase a lived experience nor diminish the courage it takes to speak up in the face of power, scrutiny, and doubt. Your voice still matters, your story still holds weight, and your strength remains undeniable. Justice is not always reflected in verdicts. You are not alone, and your experience is not defined by a court’s decision.”
In response, Meesha Shafi shared her own reflection, writing, “Not every victory comes in the form of a court decision. When a woman finds the courage to speak up, that is a victory. When other women stand beside her, that is another victory. When women continue to support, believe, and amplify her voice over time, those are years of victory.”
This wave of solidarity comes after a sessions court ruled in favor of Ali Zafar in the high-profile defamation case, directing Meesha Shafi to pay Rs5 million in damages after concluding her allegations could not be legally proven.
The case, initiated in 2018 following Shafi’s public harassment claims, sparked nationwide discussions on accountability, reputational rights, and the challenges faced by women speaking out against powerful figures.
