Pakistan's big victory in sports diplomacy against India as Pakistan has been elected as a member of the Board of Directors of Asian Boxing by defeating India, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Pakistan's Khalid Mahmood defeated India's Ajay Singh by 18 votes to 9. The election took place at the Asian Boxing Congress meeting in Thailand.
Khalid Mahmood is also the Secretary General of the Pakistan Olympic Association.
Pakistan Boxing Federation President Lt. Col. (retd) Nasir congratulated Khalid Mahmood.
He said success against India is a source of pride for Pakistan.
Pakistan Boxing Federation President said Confidence in Pakistan's sports leadership increased at Asian level.
He said Pakistan's inclusion in Asian Boxing Board will promote cooperation in the region, he added.
He added that Pakistan is gaining a strong position in sports at the international level and Khalid Mahmood's election is a success of Pakistan's positive image and sports diplomacy.
