The US State Department announced on Friday that it has temporarily restricted official government personnel from visiting high-end hotels in Karachi, Pakistan, following a reported security threat.
In a security alert, the department stated: “The US Consulate General Karachi received a report of a threat directed at high-end hotels in Karachi. As a precaution, the Consulate has temporarily limited visits by official U.S. government personnel to these establishments.”
The State Department noted that it routinely designates certain locations—such as hotels, tourist attractions, markets, shopping centers, and restaurants—as off-limits to US personnel in response to credible threats.
The alert advises individuals to avoid crowded areas, maintain a low profile, and remain vigilant in places popular with tourists and Western nationals.
The US government currently maintains a travel advisory for Pakistan, urging American citizens to reconsider travel due to ongoing security risks, including terrorism and the potential for armed conflict.
