PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday said that although the political party rigging the first phase of general elections held for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly had confessed to its crime, still the election commission had failed to take any action on the complaints the PPP had lodged regarding rigging, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a post on X, he said that had the election commission taken action then, the credibility of phase-II of the elections being held today could have been restored.

Bilawal made it clear that the PPP reserved the right to protest and demand reelection in all those constituencies where rigging took place and where the commission failed to act.
He further said that the PPP had already sent multiple complaints to the commission in writing regarding stuffing of ballot boxes and eviction of its polling agents from polling stations today.
The PPP chairman expressed the hope that the commission would now act swiftly in order to maintain fairness in the second phase of polls.
Also on Sunday, urging the election commission to hold free and fair elections, PPP leader Nadeem Afzal Chan said that the party was being forced to boycott the third phase of polls.
Chan said that the PML-N wanted to make the elections controversial. “The PML-N knows that the PPP will win the elections. That’s why, it wants to create issues.”
“The PML-N is yet to address the PPP’s reservations over rigging in the first phase of elections,” he said, adding the way elections were being held today, the party did not think they were free and fair.
He further said that LA-29 and LA-28 were the PPP’s strongholds. “But unfortunately, polling material has not reached polling stations in these two constituencies.”
Chan said that the PPP had so far lodged 15 complaints with the election commission.
