NDMA warns of floods during August 2–4

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flood alert warning of a significant rise in water levels in major rivers across the country from August 2 to 4 due to ongoing monsoon rains.
According to the NDMA, high-level flooding has been recorded at River Lehri near Head Gogi, while medium-level flooding is being reported in Nullah Palkhu at Wazirabad. Low-level flooding continues at Kalabagh, Chashma, Guddu and Sukkur on the Indus River as well as at Head Nari on the Nari River.
The authority has also forecast high-level flows at Marala and low to medium-level flows at Khanki and Qadirabad on the Chenab River. Water levels are also expected to rise in the Jhelum, Ravi, Kabul and their tributaries, with medium to high flows likely in adjoining hill torrents.
NDMA has warned of flash flooding in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, central and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northern Balochistan. Meanwhile, urban flooding and waterlogging are expected in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta and other low-lying areas of Sindh.
The authority has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel to flood-affected areas and stay away from fast-flowing streams and follow official advisories. Travellers have also been urged to check weather forecasts and road conditions before setting out and carry emergency essentials during the ongoing monsoon season.
