A day after the announcement to hold intra-party polls on February 5, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday postponed them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The PTI said now intra-party polls will be held after the general elections 2024 as the party members were busy in their election campaigns.
The new schedule of the polls will be announced after the elections.
Yesterday, PTI’s central Election Commissioner Raoof Hassan released the schedule of the intra-party polls on PTI’s official X account.
On Dec 22, the Election Commission of Pakistan stripped PTI of its electoral ‘bat’ symbol in a decision on founding member Akbar S Babar’s petition challenging that the intra-party elections were not held in line with the rules.
Following the decision, PTI moved to Peshawar High Court, from where it got temporary relief as the decision of the electoral body was nullified. Later, PTI challenged the decision of the Peshawar High Court in the Supreme Court, but the court also upheld the decision of the high court.
