A school teacher in Chakwal has been suspended for taking part in the election campaign of a candidate from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

Ijaz Baig, an elementary school teacher at Government Elementary School Lahar Sultanpur, was found to be supporting Tanveer Aslam, who is contesting for the provincial assembly seat from Chakwal.

The District Monitoring Officer (DMO) Chakwal issued a letter of suspension to Baig and forwarded it to the education authorities.

The DMO also initiated departmental action against Baig on the complaints of Imran Qaiser, who is the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate from the same constituency.

According to the election code of conduct, public servants are not allowed to participate in any political activity or campaign during the election period.
