The Kerala Police in India have seized over 100,000 fake degrees from 22 universities and arrested 11 suspects in a major crackdown, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.
According to Indian media reports, the operation targeted a network involved in producing and distributing fraudulent degrees. The fake certificates, spanning fields such as medicine, nursing, and engineering, were reportedly used to secure jobs across multiple sectors.
Authorities estimate that more than one million fake degrees have already been circulated and employed for employment purposes. The investigation also revealed that the network sold individual certificates for Rs 200,000 to Rs 400,000, generating substantial illicit revenue.
Police said the probe is ongoing as they seek to dismantle the larger network responsible for this widespread forgery.
