KSE-100 index touches historic 130,344 points

Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) maintained its bullish trend on Wednesday amid widespread buying by confident investors driving the bourse to the historic high, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The PSX’s benchmark KSE-100 index gained 2144 points, crossing the 130,344-point barrier for first time in history and reaching 130,545 points. Of the 473 companies traded today, share prices of 256 companies were up and of 192 companies were down while 25 remained unchanged.

On Tuesday, KSE-100 index gained 128199 points. 

Meanwhile, the trade deficit for June 2025 decreased by nine percent on a month-on-month basis and 3pc on YoY to $2.3 billion. Pakistan’s imports decreased by 7pc MoM and 2pc YoY to $4.9bn, and exports decreased by 5pc MoM and 1pc YoY to $2.5 billion. 

Economic analysts said that the rally came on the back of budget clarity and declining interest rates, prompting increased equity exposure from domestic investors.

On Tuesday, the stock market continued its record-breaking momentum, fuelled by budget clarity, falling interest rates, and sustained investor optimism, following the close of a stellar fiscal year marked by macroeconomic gains and strong foreign support.

The index had jumped 2,572.11 points, or 2.05%, to settle at 128,199.42, closing above the 128,000 mark for the first time ever. Investor interest was particularly high in key sectors such as automobile assemblers, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration, and power generation.

Major stocks, including HUBCO, MARI, PRL, POL, MCB, MEBL, and NBP, all traded positively.
