Acclaimed Pakistani star Imran Abbas has clarified his stance on opposing the film Sardar Ji 3, stressing that his only concern was the chosen dates, not the film itself. The film was coincidentally released on the 1st of Muharram, a month of respect for Muslims.

Imran Abbas has publicly opposed the screening of the controversial movie Sardar Ji 3 during Muharram.

Taking to his Instagram story, Imran weighed in on the film release, also reminiscing about the days when Pakistan Television (PTV) used to release content without music in the holy month.

“I have never experienced movies being released on the 1st of Muharram before in Pakistan... It's not a matter of Shia or Sunni, but certain dates and months hold significance for us as Muslims. I can still recall when PTV used to have music-free transmissions. Now we witness dance and music shows even on the 9th of Muharram,” he wrote in the Instagram story.

However, in the latest rounds of events, Imran Abbas clarified that his stance was misinterpreted by many, claiming that the main issue was the date only, as he considered the release of the films in Muharram quite ‘insensitive’ and ‘upsetting.’

“I want to reiterate that I do not oppose any of the cast or producers of the movie, nor do I have any objections to the film being released. My main issue is with the chosen date, which is insensitive as it may upset the emotions of many Muslims living in this country, regardless of our sects, as we all hold deep respect and love for Our Prophet(sallallaho Alehe Wa Aalehi. Wasallam) and Imam Hussain(a.s),” he added in the Instagram story.
