Iran has warned that any threat or act of aggression directed against its leadership or people would be met with a strong response, as tensions between Tehran and Israel continue to simmer.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued the warning in response to remarks attributed to Israel’s defence minister, describing Tehran’s position as firm and unequivocal.
In a statement posted on X, Araghchi said that US President Donald Trump had pledged to keep Israel under control.
He added that if Israel chose to disregard Washington’s position, Iran would respond decisively.
The Iranian foreign minister stated that any threats against Iran’s leadership or its citizens would be answered forcefully, warning against actions that could further destabilise the region.
Araghchi also referred to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, saying its provisions were clear and publicly known.
He did not elaborate on specific clauses but suggested that the agreement remained an important reference point in ongoing diplomatic discussions.
The comments come amid heightened regional tensions and continued diplomatic efforts involving Iran, the United States and regional mediators.
While the exchange of rhetoric has intensified in recent days, international observers continue to call for restraint and dialogue to avoid further escalation.
