As per the latest situation in the River Chenab, the inflow of water at Head Marala was recorded at 38,626 cusecs, while the outflow at 10626 cusecs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
According to the irrigation department, the water inflow in the river at Khanki Barrage was recorded at 16,991 cusecs, while the outflow at 9,330 cusecs.
The department informed that the inflow of water in the river at Head Qadirabad stood at 18,500 cusecs.
On Saturday, WAPDA had said that a reduction of 91,000 cusecs in water flows from India into Chenab River had been recorded in the past two days.
The drop in water level has been noticed after Delhi announced it was suspending the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960, which governs the usage of the Indus river system, in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were killed in April.
India, without evidence, blamed Islamabad for the attack. The latter has denied the allegations and called for a neutral probe.
And despite the two nuclear-armed neighbours agreeing to a ceasefire this month following a military confrontation between them in decades, the accord still remains “in abeyance” by India.
According to the data provided by Wapda, the inflow of water recorded in the river at Head Marala on May 29 was 98,200 cusecs, before dropping to 44,800 cusecs a day later on Friday.
The inflows plunged further to 7,200 cusecs today, with no water discharged.
Overall, a reduction of 91,000 cusecs in the inflow of water at the river at Marala Headworks was recorded in the last two days.
