Ambassador Fu Cong, Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations, met with a Pakistani parliamentary delegation led by Chairman of the Pakistan People's Party and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The meeting focused on the evolving security landscape in South Asia, particularly in light of recent hostilities by India. Both sides engaged in a comprehensive exchange on Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari conveyed his deep appreciation for China’s steadfast support in the wake of India’s provocative actions. He provided a detailed briefing on the situation following the April 22, 2025, attack in Pahalgam and emphasized Pakistan’s responsible and measured response to Indian aggression.
Expressing disappointment over India’s refusal to accept Pakistan’s proposal for a neutral, transparent, and independent investigation, he reiterated that lasting peace in South Asia cannot be achieved without a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He urged China to play a proactive role in facilitating a multilateral dialogue grounded in relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. He also called on the international community to move beyond conflict management and work toward permanent solutions for enduring peace in the region.
The Pakistani delegation presented the Chinese side with comprehensive evidence of India’s unprovoked attacks on Pakistani territory, deliberate targeting of civilians, support for terrorist activities within Pakistan, and its ongoing violations of the Indus Waters Treaty. These actions were condemned as the weaponization of water resources and a clear breach of international law.
Both parties agreed that aggressive policies and unilateral actions threaten regional stability and must be firmly opposed. They reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful dispute resolution, the enhancement of multilateral cooperation, adherence to the principles of the UN Charter, and the upholding of international agreements and legal norms.
