The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore is considering introducing a fully paperless admission process for matriculation and intermediate examinations, a move that could benefit more than one million students annually, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
Under the proposed system, candidates would no longer be required to submit hard copies of admission forms to the board, with the entire application process expected to be completed online.
The initiative is aimed at simplifying procedures for students and reducing administrative burdens.
At present, candidates from both public and private educational institutions submit their applications online, but must also provide physical copies of admission forms to the board, resulting in additional paperwork and repeated visits to board offices.
According to sources, approximately 600,000 students appear in matriculation examinations under BISE Lahore each year, while more than 500,000 candidates sit intermediate examinations, making it one of the largest examination boards in the country.
Education officials believe that shifting to a fully digital system would save students time and money while improving efficiency and transparency.
The move is also expected to reduce document-handling requirements and streamline the verification process.
Sources said a final decision on the plan is expected at the next meeting of the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC), the body responsible for coordinating policies among educational boards in Punjab.
If approved, the initiative would mark a significant step towards a more efficient, accessible, and student-friendly examination system for candidates across the province.
