The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the investigation conducted by Jhang Police and summoned District Police Officer (DPO) Sajid Hussain Khokhar to appear in person tomorrow.
During the hearing, the judge ordered that the DPO must appear before the court and satisfy it regarding the conduct and behavior of his subordinate officers. The court directed the deputy prosecutor general to convey the orders to the DPO and ensure compliance.
The LHC extended the interim bail of accused Mian Shahzad until tomorrow and adjourned the hearing of the case till June 3.
The court expressed anger over the registration of a case under Section 489-F despite the complainant’s version being proven false during the police investigation.
It was observed that Investigation Officer Zafar Abbas remained adamant on arresting the accused even though the cheque amount had been proven incorrect during the inquiry.
The court’s remarks highlighted concerns over the conduct of the investigation and the handling of the case by the police authorities.
