Pakistan seeks details after reported killing of four farm workers in Italy

Pakistan's Foreign Office on Tuesday said it was seeking details of a reported incident in southern Italy in which four people believed to be of Pakistani origin were allegedly killed.

Responding to media reports, a Foreign Office spokesperson said news of the incident was deeply distressing but the exact nationality of the victims had not yet been confirmed.

"It is being reported that the deceased belonged to families of Pakistani origin. However, their exact nationality has not been confirmed yet," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said local police in Italy were investigating the case, including the examination of forensic evidence, while the Pakistani Embassy in Italy was closely monitoring developments.

"The embassy is in contact with local authorities and is following up on the matter," the spokesperson said.

According to Italian media reports, four Pakistani farm workers were allegedly killed at a farmhouse in southern Italy. The reports further claimed that the victims' bodies were subsequently cremated.

Italian media said police had arrested two Pakistani nationals in connection with the alleged killings.

Law enforcement authorities in Italy are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and establish the facts of the case.

The Foreign Office said it would continue to coordinate with Italian authorities through the Pakistani Embassy and provide updates as more information becomes available.
