A mind-boggling increase has been witnessed in the prices of dates, which are normally eaten while breaking fasts, making it difficult for people to purchase the fruit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
A man told 24News TV channel that compared with the last year, the rates of dates had increased by Rs500.
When a shopkeeper was interviewed, he said that this year the price of an Iranian date was Rs500 per kilo, while that of a Saudi date Rs3,000 per kilo.
He informed the Sindhi date, which last year cost Rs150, now cost Rs200.
The astounding hike in date prices has made people extremely perturbed.
