ATC hands down lenthy jail terms in cases over Fatwa against Ex-Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has announced its verdict in two separate cases related to the issuance of a fatwa against former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday. 

The judgment was delivered by ATC Judge Shahid Sikandar after the completion of trial proceedings in both cases.

According to the court’s decision, Maulana Tahir Saifi, a leader of the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), was sentenced to 32 years in prison along with a fine.

In a separate case, another accused, Riaz, was handed 36 years’ imprisonment and fined Rs650,000.

The verdict stated that both convicts had issued a fatwa against the former chief justice.

Separate cases were registered against Maulana Tahir Saifi at A-Division Police Station in Sheikhupura and against Riaz at Changa Manga Police Station in Kasur.
