While normally a fixture at award ceremonies, he notably skipped the 2026 Grammys after old emails from 2019 drew criticism over their dismissive tone toward potential clients.
The director appeared in high spirits at the Actor Awards, filming stars in his iconic slow motion style. “Coming in hot to the Actor Awards,” Walliser announced on social media, sharing clips of himself leaping for joy on the red carpet.
Fans flooded his posts with support, while a few critics reminded him to humble himself and improve customer interactions.
The controversy stemmed from a series of emails with a wedding client, where Cole Walliser outlined the Glambot’s high fees in a tone some deemed curt and unprofessional.
In a later Instagram video, he addressed the situation directly, admitting the tone of his emails was dismissive and curt and expressing regret for any upset caused.
Walliser also spoke out against allegations of bias, clarifying that he never intended to offend anyone and acknowledging the challenges he faced growing up with issues of identity and race. “Everything lands on me,” he said, reflecting on his early career before he had a full team.
The filmmaker took the opportunity to apologize to those who felt dismissed during past interactions, promising to treat everybody with the respect they deserve moving forward. Despite the controversy, his fans were delighted to see him back capturing the glamour of Hollywood’s biggest night.
