The federal government has approved a series of key transfers, postings, suspensions and a resignation involving officers across multiple ministries and divisions, according to official notifications issued by the Establishment Division on Monday.
Under the new orders, Muhammad Abbas Khan, who was serving as Joint Secretary in the Communications Division, has been transferred and posted Joint Secretary in the Economic Affairs Division. In another significant appointment, Umar Rauf has been posted Director General (Telecom) in the Ministry of IT. His appointment has been made on a contract basis for a period of three years.
Separately, the prime minister has accepted the resignation of Syed Mohsin Abbas, who was serving as Legal Advisor (MP-1 Scale) in the Ministry of Defence. According to the notification, his resignation will take effect from the date he formally separates from the post.
The reshuffle also includes the transfer of OSD Imran Mahmood, a Grade 20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, whose services have been handed over to the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
Further changes include the transfer of Section Officer Sap Jan from the Ministry of Interior to the Petroleum Division, and Section Officer Maryam Aslam from the Establishment Division to the Housing and Works Division.
Meanwhile, Section Officer Hammad Hassan of the Ministry of Interior has been suspended for 120 days under the Civil Servants Efficiency and Discipline Rules 2020. A show cause notice has also been issued to him in connection with the disciplinary proceedings.
All orders have been formally notified by the Establishment Division, marking another round of administrative changes within the federal bureaucracy.
