Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will now chair a crucial meeting of the federal cabinet on Tuesday instead of Monday to review and finalise a future strategy regarding the recent violent protests against the United States in various cities, particularly Karachi and Islamabad.
According to the 24NewsH TV channel, the cabinet session had initially been scheduled for Monday morning before the sitting of the Majlis-e-Shura at 9:30 am, but the timetable was later revised. The meeting will now take place at 9:30 am on Tuesday (March 3, 2026).
The cabinet is expected to undertake a detailed review of the escalating tensions and war-like situation in the region. A comprehensive briefing will be presented on the evolving regional security environment, including the ongoing US-Israel attack on Iran.
Matters relating to national security will also feature prominently on the agenda. Sources said the country’s internal security landscape will be assessed, including consultations on developments and operations linked to Afghanistan.
In addition, the federal cabinet will be briefed on the recent violent protests directed against the United States. Security dimensions of the demonstrations and the government’s future course of action will be considered as part of broader deliberations.
The sources said the meeting will be briefed about the Pak-Afghan war and Taliban's terror attacks in the country.
Sources indicated that key decisions are likely to emerge from the cabient session. An official statement outlining the outcomes of the meeting is expected to be issued afterward.
