Higher Education Commission Executive Director Zia Al-Qayyum has tendered resignation on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the details, the High Court had reinstated Zia Al-Qayyum by suspending the decision of the Sessions Court on September 12.
There were serious differences between HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and Executive Director Zia Al-Qayyum over the purchase of laptops worth billions of rupees.
HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed called a meeting of HEC board and dismissed Executive Director Zia Al-Qayyum. However, Executive Director Zia Al-Qayyum had moved court against his removal and got stay order.
Meanwhile Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed's term ended and he was not extended on the laptop issue, while the additional charge of HEC chairman's post was given to the Federal Secretary Education. Executive Director HEC Zia Abdul Qayyum's resignation has been accepted and approved by Chairman HEC. The letter has also been issued by HEC.
