Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that he has asked for immediate implementation of Supreme Court order No 299/2020 for the release of under-trial women prisoners and convicted women prisoners who fulfill the criteria of the apex court order.
In a tweet, he said: “After a meeting with the Ministry of Human Rights, Attorney General and Barrister Ali Zafar, I have asked for immediate implementation of the SC order.”

The Prime Minister said, “I have also asked for immediate reports on foreign women prisoners and women on death row for humanitarian consideration.”
Ministry of Human Rights Secretary Rabiya Javeri Agha in a tweet said, “Masha’allah what an amazing decision for the poor incarcerated women of Pakistan. Shout out also to Shireen Mazari and the MOHR team for a substantive report on women in jails.”
