The Anti-Narcotics Force (AF) thwarted an attempt to smuggle 13 kilograms of ice from Pakistan to Australia, which was tactfully hidden in the medical books, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
An ANF spokesman said that they received credible information that a parcel containing ice was booked by a man, Fazalur Rehman, who is a resident of Peshawar, from the office of a courier company located at Mall Road, Lahore.
The ANF team impounded the parcel and found a huge quantity of ice that was absorbed in pages of the medical books.
The ANF team took custody of the parcel and sent it to the laboratory for checking. The ANF team got confirmation through narcotics testing device about the presence of ice in the books.
The spokesman of ANF said that measures are being taken to curb the smuggling of narcotics through parcels. ANF started a search operation to arrest the accused.
