Pakistani actress and model Faryal Gohar has made a deeply personal revelation about her past marriage, claiming that domestic violence contributed to the loss of her twin pregnancy.
A viral video from Faryal Gohar’s latest television appearance has been circulating on social media, in which she recalled the devastating loss and the advice she received from her doctor afterward.
Speaking about her final miscarriage, Faryal said, “My last miscarriage was of twins, and they were also lost because of violence. I had a deep shock because I had always wished for twins. When I lost them, my doctor examined me and told me, ‘Before you think about having another child, you should think about the state of your marriage.’ I asked him why he was saying that. He told me that he could see bruises and cuts on my body, including places where I had been injured. He asked me why I was tolerating it and said that, under those circumstances, my next step should not be having another child.”
Faryal revealed that her doctor’s words became a turning point for her. According to the actress, the conversation forced her to confront the reality of her marriage and ultimately influenced her decision to take a different path.
The revelation has once again brought attention to Faryal Gohar’s past relationship with actor and filmmaker Jamal Shah. The couple tied the knot in 1983 when Faryal was 23 years old. According to the account surrounding their marriage, her family approved of the union largely because of Jamal Shah’s Syed lineage, while some relatives had reportedly expressed concerns before the wedding.
After nine years of a troubled relationship, Faryal Gohar and Jamal Shah officially divorced in 1992. Following their separation, Faryal chose to cut ties completely and decided never to return to Quetta.
Over the years, both Faryal and Jamal have spoken about their separation from different perspectives. Jamal Shah has previously attributed the breakdown of their marriage to personality differences and his ambition to establish an arts academy with another woman.
Faryal, meanwhile, has recently described her decision to marry Jamal as a “wrong decision,” citing personal differences and what she characterized as a complete breakdown of boundaries in the relationship.
