Islamabad Bar Council (IBC) has announced its support for Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) nationwide strike on September 3 against the petroleum levy, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Vice Chairman Islamabad Bar Council Chaudhry Asif Irfan, said the strike call was in the public interest with putting into words that heavy taxes on petroleum products and the petroleum levy had contributed to rising inflation.
He said the increasing burden had made it difficult for ordinary people to meet their daily needs and appeal the government to provide immediate relief instead of imposing further financial pressure on the public.
