The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to question players and members of the selection committee as part of an accountability process following Pakistan's poor performance against England, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The PCB has also issued a notice to the National Selection Committee, seeking an explanation for the inclusion of Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan in the squad.
Some senior doctors will be included in the investigation, while the future of Imam-ul-Haq will be decided after receiving the inquiry report. In case of guilt, a ban will be imposed on cricketer Imamul Haq.
According to the notice, Imam and Rizwan were included in the squad based on the recommendations of the National Selection Committee. The selectors have been asked to provide clear reasons and justification for their inclusion.
The selection committee has been directed to submit its response within 24 hours of receiving the notice.
The PCB has also decided to question players and the selection committee as it seeks answers over the team's recent performance and selection decisions.
The move signals that accountability will extend beyond one individual, with players and selectors also expected to face questions over their respective roles.
The board's decision follows Pakistan's disappointing performance against England and the subsequent controversy surrounding team selection.
