Singer & actor Ali Zafar has finally addressed the public after securing a legal victory in his long running defamation case against fellow artist Meesha Shafi, sharing a message that focused more on closure than celebration.

Taking to Instagram, Ali Zafar posted a simple but powerful statement, expressing gratitude for those who stood by him during what he described as “Testing times.”

Rather than celebrating the verdict, he emphasized humility, stating that he holds no ill will and hopes to move forward with grace.

The post, designed in a minimal black on white format, quickly gained traction online, with fans calling it a moment of “Truth prevailing.”

The statement follows a sessions court verdict delivered in Lahore on March 31, 2026, where the court ruled in favor of Zafar in his defamation suit.

The court ordered Meesha Shafi to pay Rs 5 million in damages, concluding that the allegations in question could not be legally proven within the scope of the defamation claim.

However, it is important to note the distinction between the two legal matters tied to this case.

The defamation suit, filed by Ali Zafar in 2018, focused on reputational damage caused by public allegations.

This is the case in which the recent verdict has been delivered.

The harassment allegations themselves, raised by Meesha Shafi during the early wave of the #MeToo movement in Pakistan, have followed a separate legal path and remain a different matter in terms of proceedings and outcomes.

The timeline of this case dates back to April 2018, when Meesha Shafi publicly accused Zafar of harassment.

The claim sparked widespread debate across the entertainment industry and beyond, marking one of Pakistan’s most high profile moments within the global #MeToo conversation.

Soon after, Ali Zafar denied the allegations and filed a defamation suit, seeking damages and a legal resolution.

Over the years, the case saw multiple hearings, delays, and intense public scrutiny.

Both sides maintained their positions, while the discourse around the case often extended beyond courtrooms into social media and public opinion.

The recent verdict, therefore, represents a significant legal milestone, at least in terms of the defamation claim.

Ali Zafar’s response, however, suggests a desire to move past the controversy rather than revisit it.

His statement avoids direct confrontation, instead leaning toward reconciliation and closure, a tone that many of his supporters have echoed online.

Ali Zafar is widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most versatile entertainers.

Starting his career as a musician, he rose to fame with hit songs that resonated across borders, eventually transitioning into acting with successful projects in both Pakistani and international cinema.

Known for his artistic range spanning music, film, painting, and production,  Ali Zafar has built a career that blends commercial success with creative experimentation.
