Govt hikes petroleum levy to Rs160.61 per litre

The federal government has increased the petroleum levy on petrol by Rs55.24 per litre, raising it to 160.61 per litre from the previous Rs105.37 per litre, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

On the other hand, the Petroleum Levy on High-Speed-Diesel (HSD) was reduced by Rs55.24 per litre, slashing it down to zero.

Petroleum Levy on petrol has been jacked up to provide relief to the HSD consumers. 

Ex-refinery price of petrol also increased by Rs13.58 per litre, and the price differential claim of Rs95.59 on petrol is also abolished.

Now the price of one litre of petrol in Pakistan is fixed at Rs458.41 after an increase of Rs137.42.

Currently, the government is collecting Rs120 billion per month under the head of petroleum levy on various petroleum products.
