Pakistani actress Sharmeen Hina Rizvi recently confirmed her separation from husband Ammar Ahmed Khan in an emotional Instagram post, just a day before she took to social media again to respond to the backlash.
Hina, a popular television actress and the younger sister of veteran filmmaker Sangeeta, tied the knot not long ago with fellow artist Ammar Ahmed Khan. Their wedding was widely celebrated across the entertainment industry and among fans.
On Saturday, Hina shared the personal news on Instagram, revealing that she and Ammar are currently going through a separation, though they are not divorced yet. She explained that the decision stemmed from ongoing difficulties in their relationship and a mutual need for mental peace.
“With a heavy heart, I announce that my husband Ammar Ahmed Khan and I have separated,” she wrote. “I request everyone to respect our privacy. It wasn’t an easy step, and we both need time to further decide what’s best for the future of this relationship. Till then, please don’t judge us, as the dynamics of a marriage are only known to the two individuals bonded in it. Thank you.”
The post triggered a wave of online responses, many of which were critical. The following day, Hina addressed the negativity directly, calling out online trolls for their insensitive remarks.
“As a public figure, I understand that people are curious about my life,” she said. “That’s why I chose to speak up. But the personal attacks and narrow-minded comments are unfair. People need to realize that everyone has the right to choose what brings them peace — and that includes walking away from a relationship.”
She added, “Netizens have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. My husband and I deserve the space to deal with this without being judged. Please don’t make our lives miserable with your negativity.”
Hina also posted several Instagram stories with cryptic, emotional captions hinting at the emotional strain leading up to the announcement.
In another post, she reiterated: “Me and my husband Ammar are currently in our separation phase and haven’t rooted for divorce. We need space to decide what’s best for us.”
Alongside her personal life, Hina continues to shine professionally. She has starred in popular dramas such as Tishnagi Dil Ki, Umeed, Hari Hari Churiyaan, Neeli Zinda Hai, Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah, College Gate, Fairy Tale 1, and Fairy Tale 2. Her performance as Aghu Jan in Fairy Tale was especially well-received by fans. Her upcoming project, Masafat, is set to air on Hum TV.
