The Punjab government has unveiled the application procedure for its interest-free housing loan programme, enabling low-income families to obtain loans of up to Rs1 million for home repairs, roof rehabilitation and the construction of an upper floor, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
The welfare initiative aims to improve living conditions by providing interest-free loans ranging from Rs500,000 to Rs1 million to eligible homeowners across the province.
Under the scheme, the official online portal offers two financing categories. Applicants can either apply for a loan under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” programme for housing support or opt for a separate loan specifically designed for roof repair and rehabilitation.
Eligibility criteria
To qualify for the scheme, applicants must be permanent residents of Punjab and possess a NADRA-verified CNIC.
Applicants must own a residential property of up to five marlas in urban areas or 10 marlas in rural areas, while their age should be between 21 and 60 years at the time of application.
The government has also stipulated that applicants must not be defaulters of any bank or financial institution and should have a clean financial record.
In addition, they must not have been convicted of any serious criminal offence, while their personal and property records will be verified through NADRA and the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA).
How to apply
Eligible applicants can register online through the official portal by creating an account at https://acag.punjab.gov.pk.
After logging in, applicants are required to select their preferred loan category and upload the necessary documents, including their CNIC, proof of property ownership (Fard) and photographs of the existing house.
To facilitate applicants, the Punjab government has established special help desks at the offices of all Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Assistant Commissioners (ACs) and regional and deputy directors in the designated areas, where people can also receive guidance and submit applications.
