Bollywood personality Rakhi Sawant has responded to criticism over her faith with clarifying that her religious beliefs are a personal matter and should not be judged by others.
Speaking in a video, Rakhi said she performs all five daily prayers and also offers Tahajjud (the voluntary late-night prayer observed by many Muslims).
Rakhi said she embraced Islam after getting married and rejected the criticism surrounding her decision.
She focuses attention on how interfaith marriages are not unusual in the Indian entertainment industry and also mentioned how Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan as examples while making her point.
The actress also claimed that many people criticizing her have never performed Umrah, whereas she has completed the pilgrimage eight times.
She said her actions reflect her commitment to her faith and people should stop questioning her religious beliefs.
Rakhi Sawant is an Indian actress, dancer and television personality who rose to fame in the early 2000s through Bollywood films, music videos and reality television.
Often referred to as the "Drama Queen" of Indian entertainment, she has appeared in movies such as Main Hoon Na and Masti, besides participating in popular reality shows including Bigg Boss, Nach Baliye and Rakhi Ka Swayamwar.
