Motorway Police closed the Motorway M-11 from Lahore to Sialkot, and Motorway M-2 from Lahore to Hiran Minar due to thick fog that engulfed the adjacent area, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmad said motorways were closed to ensure safe travel for the public.
He said that any carelessness can land them in a dangerous condition.
Motorway Police spokesman advised motorists to prefer travel during daylight hours, particularly between 10 am and 6 pm, during foggy weather conditions.
Drivers were also urged to use fog lights for both front and rear visibility, avoid unnecessary travel, maintain appropriate distances from other vehicles, and reduce speed.
The Motorway Police spokesman highlighted that the measures were aimed at reducing accidents caused by the dense fog, which is common in Punjab during winter.
The spokesman advised the travellers to contact Helpline 130 for guidance and assistance.
