Lawyers in Mir Murtaza Bhutto murder case told the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday that several suspects nominated in the FIRs registered in connection with the murder of slain prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s brother Mir Murtaza Bhutto had died, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the hearing of appeals in Murtaza murder case, lawyers for the appellants said that Shahid Hayat, who was a police officer at that time, Shabbir Ahmad Qaimkhani, Agha Muhammad Jameel and Masood Sharif had all died.
Besides that, they said that the documents submitted in the appeal filed by Shahid Hayat were not legible.
The court directed that valid documents be attached with the appeal.
Later, the court adjourned the case’s hearing until January 27, 2026.
Murtaza had been murdered near Dau Talwar in Karachi on September 20, 1996 allegedly in a police encounter.
Two cases had been registered in connection with the murder; first on the complaint of the state, while the second on the complaint of the deceased’s family.
A trial court had acquitted all suspects in the case.
