Police claimed to have killed three robbers who had a head money on their arrest during an exchange of fire in Khairpur, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to SSP Samiullah, the police received a distress call that some robbers were looting passenger buses at the Kot Lalu Mangya Mori Stop.
When police reached the crime scene, the dacoits opened fire on the police party, who retaliated in a befitting manner and exterminated three robbers, whereas their accomplices escaped.
The SSP said the alleged bandits were identified as Aqib Shar with Rs4.1 million head money, Maula Baksh Shar with Rs3 million head money, and Mujtaba.
Aqib Shar and Maula Baksh Shar were wanted in more than 60 cases of heinous crimes, including extortion, murder, attempted murder, and kidnapping for ransom.
Police also recovered a Kalashnikov and bullets from their possession.
Their bodies were sent to the hospital for medicolegal procedures, whereas a manhunt was launched for their accomplices who escaped during the encounter.
Weapons and looted valuables were seized from the dead. Further investigation was underway.
Most-wanted dacoit shot dead in Karachi
A most-wanted dacoit became seriously injured but later died in a hospital during an exchange of fire with a police party in Karachi.
The incident took place in Pak Colony, located in Kemari Karachi.
SSP Kemari Amjad Shaikh said that the dead dacoit, identified as Amirullah alias Meeru, was a police record holder and several criminal cases were registered against him.
Police also recovered a pistol and a motorcycle from his custody. SSP revealed that further legal proceedings are underway.
