An FIR has been registered against Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Munem Zafar Khan and other party members over a protest march held on Shahrah-e-Faisal.

According to the FIR, a gathering was held on the main artery without permission, allegedly causing obstruction to ambulances and other vehicles. The case, FIR No. 26/37, has been registered with Tipu Sultan Police Station.

Confirming the development, a spokesperson for Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi said the Sindh government had filed the case over the march held in the city.

Reacting to the FIR, Sindh Assembly Member Muhammad Farooq termed the case “political revenge,” alleging that the Sindh government and the PPP were in a state of panic. He described the registration of a case over what he called a peaceful protest as “fascism.”

Muhammad Farooq also announced that the sit-in planned outside the Sindh Assembly on February 14 would “definitely take place” despite the FIR.
