The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the recent terrorist attack in Balochistan, terming it a cowardly, brutal and inhuman act. The resolution was adopted in the absence of the opposition.
According to the text of the resolution, the House strongly condemned the attack, stating that precious lives of innocent citizens were lost and many people were injured. It declared that the incident was not merely a law and order issue but an attack on the security and dignity of the Pakistani state.
The resolution accused India of long-standing involvement in supporting terrorism, sabotage and separatist elements in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan. It stated that Pakistan has presented undeniable evidence of India’s involvement at international forums on several occasions.
The House described terrorism, covert warfare and open interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs by India as a serious violation of international law, the United Nations Charter and the accepted principles of good neighbourliness. It further termed India a constant and dangerous threat to regional peace.
The resolution declared that Pakistan would never tolerate any external power, especially India, using terrorism as a state policy, warning that all such actions would be responded to in a strong, effective and decisive manner at all levels.
The Punjab Assembly expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs and prayed for the speedy and complete recovery of the injured. It strongly urged the federal government to take indiscriminate, strict and decisive action against all elements involved in the terrorist attack and their facilitators.
The House also demanded that evidence of India’s involvement in terrorism be effectively presented before the United Nations Security Council and other international organizations, and that all necessary diplomatic, legal and state measures be taken to safeguard national security.
Reaffirming solidarity, the resolution stated that the province of Punjab stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Balochistan and emphasized that no weakness, expediency or pressure would be accepted in the national struggle against terrorism.
