A decision of the Supreme Court (SC) was presented at a civil court in Lahore on Tuesday, in which it had been ruled that a man was bound to pay money to his wife even if she was staying with her parents after nikah, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A girl had filed a suit in the court, stating that she had married a man named Sultan, who after nikah had left for Italy, and now he was not paying her money, saying that she was still living at her parents’ home.
Waseem Rajput, counsel for the girl, told the court that his client was an orphan. “Her husband left for Italy after marriage. But neither he pays her the money nor take her to Italy,” he informed.
After seeing the apex court’s verdict, the court summoned the lawyers of both parties for final discussion.
