Former PTI leader Dr Shireen Mazari on Tuesday filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), seeking permission for a meeting with her incarcerated daughter, human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband Hadi Ali Chattha, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In her application, Shireen said that on Monday, she went to Adiala Jail to meet her daughter and son-in-law. “But despite the fact that the day has been reserved for meetings, I was denied the permission,” she said, and added that she had filed the petition because she wanted that she be given the right to meet her daughter as per the jail rule.

“I am a mother. I want to meet my daughter and son-in-law. But I am being denied the permission.”

She went on to say that Pakistan is a signatory to an agreement on human rights. “Article 1 defines mental and physical torture,” she said, and added that in this case not only international laws but local laws were also being flouted.

Shireen said that as far as compliance with international laws was concerned, Pakistan’s reputation had always been good. “When Pakistan’s reputation has always been good, then why do the authorities want to damage it now?” she questioned.
