The new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Sialkot Stallions, has announced the inclusion of former Australia captain Steve Smith in its squad for the 11th edition of the tournament, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
Smith, a seasoned T20 international with 67 matches and 1,094 runs, including five half-centuries, will make his PSL debut this season.
His signing adds significant experience to the Stallions’ lineup ahead of the tournament, which is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3.
Earlier, Sialkot Stallions appointed former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Paine as the team’s head coach.
Paine, who captained Australia in the Test format, has played 35 Tests and 35 One-Day Internationals for his country.
With Smith and Paine on board, the Sialkot Stallions aim to make a significant impact in Pakistan’s premier T20 league.
