The Punjab government has announced the establishment of 43 wildlife protection centres across the province aimed at wildlife conservation and curbing environmental crimes, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
A formal notification declaring 43 locations as wildlife protection centres has been issued by the Secretary Forests and Wildlife Department.
According to official details, four protection centres will be established in Lahore, while the Bahawalpur region will have six centres.
Five centres will be set up in Faisalabad, whereas four each in the Multan and Gujrat regions, as well as Sargodha.
Additionally, three centres are designated in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Sahiwal.
Likewise, Dera Ghazi Khan regions and Chashma, Mianwali will have one each Wildlife Protection Centre.
The newly established centres will be granted the authority to register First Information Reports (FIRs) related to wildlife crimes.
They will take action against illegal hunting, unlawful wildlife trade, and animal cruelty.
Officials said the protection centres will have full powers to arrest suspects, conduct investigations, and initiate legal proceedings.
Comprehensive records of seized animals, hunting weapons, and registered cases will also be maintained at these centres to ensure transparency and effective enforcement.
