Punjab Education Department has issued a new standard operating procedure (SOP) for processing Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR) cases of teachers, aiming to eliminate delays and procedural loopholes, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

Under the new mechanism, incomplete LPR cases will no longer be accepted.

Submission of a complete checklist along with every LPR case has been made mandatory to ensure transparency and efficiency.

According to the instructions, all documents must be formally verified by the District Education Officer (DEO) or Chief Executive Officer (CEO) concerned.

Officials have also been directed to provide clear and specific recommendations, replacing vague or ambiguous remarks that often cause unnecessary delays.

The notification further stated that any LPR case submitted without complete records would be returned.

Teachers applying for LPR must attach their service book, appointment orders, and promotion notifications.

In addition, salary slips and a complete record of leave availed have also been made compulsory.

The authorities have made it clear that district officers will be held responsible for any delay in LPR cases.

The new procedure is expected to streamline the retirement process for teachers and ensure the timely clearance of LPR cases across the province.
