The federal government has officially declared Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6, 2025, as public holidays on account of 9th and 10th Muharram-ul-Haram (Ashura 1447 A.H), reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division following the Prime Minister’s approval, these days will be observed as public holidays across the country for both five-day and six-day working week offices.

Government institutions will remain closed as part of the religious observance of Ashura, which commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala.

The notification, issued under reference No.10-01/2025-Min-II, was circulated for wide publicity and forwarded to all key government offices and departments, including federal ministries, security agencies, the judiciary, and provincial authorities.
