Samsung is gearing up for its highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event, scheduled for July 9 at 10 AM ET, where it is expected to reveal the next generation of foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and possibly a brand-new Galaxy Z Fold Ultra.
This marks the third major Unpacked showcase of the year, following the January debut of the Galaxy S25 series and the recent virtual launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge. The summer event is widely expected to focus on foldables and wearables, areas where Samsung continues to lead the market.
Among the headline announcements, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are anticipated to feature slimmer designs, larger displays, and deeper integration of Galaxy AI, aligning with the current trend of AI-powered devices. Leaks suggest the Fold 7 could come with a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8.2-inch inner screen, while the Flip 7 may also see a bump in screen real estate.
Adding to the excitement, Samsung has hinted at a premium Galaxy Z Fold Ultra device. While full specs remain under wraps, the company has teased “industry-leading hardware” and “seamless AI integration” specifically optimised for foldable use. Though rumours of a tri-fold phone persist, it remains unclear whether such a surprise reveal will materialise.
On the wearables front, the spotlight is expected to fall on the Galaxy Watch 8. While expectations are tempered due to minimal innovation in recent iterations, fans are hoping for significant improvements, particularly in battery life and performance.
Samsung may also drop a teaser or official announcement for the Galaxy S25 FE, an affordable variant in the flagship series. The previous S24 FE was criticised for lacking compelling features, and while leaks suggest modest improvements in the S25 FE — possibly powered by the Exynos 2400 chip — it remains to be seen whether it will capture consumer interest.
