In a deeply tragic incident which took place near Daulatpur on the National Highway in Nawabshah on Thursday, two police officers lost their lives in a hit-and-run incident, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Police sources said that the vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene immediately following the collision, and remained unidentified so far.
The deceased policemen have been identified as Constables Mazhar Ali Jiskani and Roshan Ali Almani.
Reports suggested that the incident occurred when both the victims, after completing their deployment at a mourning procession in Daulatpur, were en route back to the Shahpur Jehanian police checkpost on a motorbike.
The impact of the crash was devastating, as a result of which both the constables sustained fatal injuries, and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The bodies of the deceased were later transported to the Rural Health Center in Shahpur Jahanian, for necessary post-incident protocols.
Efforts and investigations are currently underway in order to trace the vehicle involved.
